Capella Fruits is a supplier and distributor of fresh fruit and vegetables whose aim is to provide the highest standards of service and quality.
From Mercabarna, the largest and most important logistics center in southern Europe, we supply distributors, shops, supermarkets and purchasing centers throughout the European continent.
More than 60 years in the sector and the trust of our farmers and clients guarantee our business path.
CAPELLA FRUITS IS A FAMILY COMPANY FOUNDED BY JOSÉ CAPELLA OVER 60 YEARS AGO. THE COMPANY IS CURRENTLY OPERATED BY THE FOURTH GENERATION OF THE FAMILY.
Our history
In 1953, José Capella Bodi, the son of a farmer and originally from Castellón (Spain), established himself in the old Born market in Hospitalet de Llobregat to sell the products he grew in his orchards in St. Vicenç Dels Horts, a town located a few kilometers from Barcelona. Little by little, new suppliers of fruit and vegetables located in areas close to the city were incorporated.
At the end of the 1970s, his son Agustín joined the company, and ten years later, in 1984, the company Capella Fruits SL was founded. In that same year the business moved to Mercabarna, the central wholesale market in Barcelona. From there and thanks to Agustín Capella's tenacity and great capacity for work, the company managed to make a name for itself in the market, standing out for the high quality of its products.
In 1998, Sergio Capella, Agustín's son, became part of the sales team and shortly after the company acquired two more stalls in Mercabarna. In recent years, Capella Fruits has increased its international activity, gaining clients in the main EU countries.
